Recently I stumbled upon a story of some interest to me. This story was about a French lady whose last name was DuBois.
According to the story, she was the matriarch of her wing of the DuBois family. There is no mention of a husband therefore I assume that he was deceased…….either from a health issue or he may have been a casualty of the political turmoil.
She was tired of the unsafe conditions in France at the time as France was a dangerous place because it was in the midst of a lot of political turmoil. Safety of her family was of great concern. This Lady gathered her immediate family and moved to Scotland. She was evidently a very strong willed no nonsense woman.
On arrival in Scotland, Lady DuBois changed her last name to Woods. It seems that Dubois in French translates to Woods in English.
I am not sure of the reality of this story, but it is interesting.
